DRU wall heaters selected by Landmarc for MOD training centres

DRU gas wall heaters, which are manufactured in the Netherlands, have been specified by Landmarc Support Services, a facilities management company, to provide heating for a number of Ministry of Defence training establishments in the Salisbury Plain area of Wiltshire UK.

DRU Kamara powered flue and Art balanced flue models were recently installed by Landmarc engineers in a selection of accommodation and service buildings on the Defence Training Estate (DTE).

Central MOD training facility

DTE is the central training facility for all MOD operations. Many of its programmes replicate battlefield conditions in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as providing training in firearms, military vehicles and many other disciplines.

Landmarc is retained to operate most of the civilian functions for the DTE. This includes information technology, bookings services, catering, hospitality, property management and conservation.

The company maintains all property and infrastructure on the training estates, including the maintenance of listed buildings, historic monuments and working farms. Its services include the delivery of a property management programme covering building inspections, maintenance and fuel installations.

Help to achieve energy efficiency target

Landmarc selected DRU heaters for the DTE sites following the company’s longstanding association with the MOD. As well as proving safe and comfortable heating, the high efficiency ratings of the heaters assists Landmarc in achieving its own 89% energy efficiency target for all of the buildings that it manages. In addition, all DRU heaters are LPG compatible and some require no electrical supply, making them the ideal solution for remote sites and portable buildings.

Rolling programme of building improvements

The DRU heaters were installed as part of a rolling programme of improvements to buildings, many of which have stood since World War Two. They include the addition of insulation and other sustainable measures to make them fit for purpose in the 21st century.

Gary Holton, Building Services Manager with Landmarc, has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the DRU heaters and the prompt and professional service provided by Drugasar, the company’s UK subsidiary.
